Rain Study (The Hour of the Day of the Month of the Season)

2016 – 2018
installation view, Sperone Westwater, New York

Rain Study (the Hour, the Day, the Month, the Season) is a series of drawings reminiscent of cosmic phenomena, created when paper momentarily exposed to rain, was overlaid with a fast-drying pigment. Like Kallat’s other works, “Rain Study” resembles a document from a distant time and space. This effect is heightened by the mysterious abbreviation “B.C.” which denotes the duration of each piece’s exposure to the open skies, measured in the artist’s breath cycles.
