Cry of the Gland is an installation composed of many close photographs of bulging shirt pockets. The photos contain no faces, bodies or names that identify their subjects, but reveal clues in the shape and fabric of the pockets, the embroidered marks they bear, and objects that they hold. As one looks for clues to the life of the city-dweller underneath in the key chains, wallets, notepads and spectacles their shirt pockets hold, each pocket and its inanimate contents begin to feel like organic extensions to the body of the owner. The pockets appear weighed down by the burden they carry, perhaps echoing the weariness of the individuals.
