From a distance Sacred Geometry (Covariance) resembles a fallen meteorite, an anthill, or a rock. Carved on its surface are a number of small eyes that transform it into a strange, sentient being. The eyes look out in all directions, holding viewers in an alert, confrontational gaze. Each of the eyes is modeled on that of different animal species, from mammals and birds to reptiles and fish. The sculpture grew out of the artist’s fascination with the way different species on earth differ in their visual perception; each looking at the world with its own peculiar type of sight.
