Flowchart began as a series of exploratory drawings that the artist created over several months paralleling the creation of Wind Study (2015) and Sightings (2015). Eventually, the drawings found themselves in a hexagonal vitrine duplicated from a 2011 work titled Afterword, alongside fragments found in the artist’s studio of an unrealized 2013 sculpture based on astronomical architecture. This assemblage of working drawings, tea-washes, gouaches and sculptural elements evokes the back-story of an artwork; a map of artistic meanderings plotting the many unpursued paths, abandoned pieces and dead ends.
